Türkiye Design Council Manifest
Türkiye Design Council is an NGO that aims to integrate the meaningful design values within everyday life by:
- Promoting skills that are human centred, nourished by one's own culture, arts, science and philosophy and appreciating innate and indigenous values;
- Contributing the discovery of historical information, knowledge and experience and enabling them to be a subject of education;
- Avoiding monotypes and imitation, cherishing local dynamics and following global approaches;
- Taking a part in generating a government policy that would enable the growth of design awareness;
- Protecting the legal and social rights of the designers;
Creating an archive which consists of works in different design areas and enabling everyone to access this gathered information.
Principles
Multidisciplinary Approach
We believe that visions, solutions and projects to be created in order to contribute to the social and economic development of our country should be handled with sustainable and correct approaches. Therefore, we contribute to the realization of the interdisciplinary working culture, which is at the core of the design activity, with a holistic knowledge approach at the level of civil society.Social Influence
Being aware of the responsibility of civil society, we prioritize the steps to be taken for our civilization and society. By bringing together the right actors, we aim to make the design activity accessible to all segments of the society by managing the information and processes in a transparent and fair manner.Education
We believe that the sustainability of civil society activities in the areas in which we operate is possible through the transfer of accurate information to the next generations. We believe that every effort should be planned and documented in the light of long-term visions in order to prepare the ground for future studies with a systematic knowledge. In the developed projects, we attach importance to the continuation of experience and knowledge transfer by including the new generation in the process. We aim to develop conscious, self-confident, free-thinking and responsible individuals by developing educational models and facilities in design and related fields.Sustainability
With the inspiration we received from our civilization, we think that one of the basic building blocks of the foundation culture is the principle of sustainability. Information and methods that are abstracted from individuals and developed with the contribution and support of all segments of society; practical and theoretical studies are carried out simultaneously with the development and transferable models are aimed to be realized. In this process, we attach importance to the participation of young people in the studies and to reinforce learning and working methods together by keeping the master-apprentice culture on the job. In the light of the experiences in the process, we develop suitable training models and facilities and prepare the ground for sustainable information transfer.Social Participation
By bringing people from all parts of the society with appropriate and efficient methods in the vision, strategy and project works, we allow common intelligence and holistic knowledge to emerge. In this way, we pave the way for the sustainability and democratic of the works from the beginning.Research
In all our studies, we aim to develop and improve human-centered, human characteristics that are nurtured from art, science and philosophy, who value the intellectual and natural, aware of their own culture and we attach importance to establishing processes and theoretical backgrounds that take into account practical principles and experience. In national and international field of design; we believe that researching, documenting and communicating the past and current activities and information in the right ways will strengthen our design awareness and civilization.

İskele Design Platform is a public area that allows gathering, learning and producing with interdiciplinary design approaches. It aims to sensitize society to value added of design and creates awaraness about this subjuct. It makes design accessible to everyone, thanks to its comprehensive program of events and libraries that make the economic and social impact of the design visible. Talks, screenings, workshops and trainings are organized in İskele to interact with professionals and students, to stimulate imagination and diversify their perspective.
